Bitcoin faces key tests as options, policy, and big holders shift flows
Bitcoin trades far below the 126,000 dollar peak while flows and policy choices shape the next trend. You need to track options expiry, sovereign Bitcoin moves, and large treasuries to set your risk.
What we will talk about today...
Record options expiry caps Bitcoin before next move
El Salvador softens Bitcoin law to satisfy IMF but keeps buying
Trump Media trims BTC stack while pushing merger and crypto ETF

A record Boxing Day options expiry holds BTC near 87,000 dollars and keeps volatility low.
[Record expiry]: Around 300,000 BTC options worth 23.7 billion dollars expire Friday with max pain near 95,000 dollars.
[Upside target]: Traders expect volatility after expiry and target 100,000 dollars once option pressure clears.
“Before expiry, Bitcoin looks weak and boring. After expiry, structure changes,” said David Eng.

El Salvador softens Bitcoin law to satisfy IMF but keeps buying
The government loosened forced BTC acceptance to secure a 1.4 billion dollar IMF deal while still adding to reserves.
[Law scaled back]: From January, merchants choose whether to accept BTC and all taxes stay in US dollars.
[State holdings]: By mid December, El Salvador holds around 6,367 BTC worth about 588 million dollars with a large unrealized gain.
[IMF pressure]: Loan terms push Bitcoin use away from core public finance while government buying continues through alternative channels.
“Bitcoin policy now favors the state balance sheet more than everyday Salvadorans,” said Quentin Ehrenmann.

Trump Media trims BTC stack while pushing merger and crypto ETF
Trump Media moved part of a large BTC position while shares rise on a fusion merger plan and a new ETF push.
[BTC adjustment]: Holdings fell from 11,542 BTC to under 10,000 coins after a 2,000 BTC transfer with no clear public reason.
[Merger pivot]: An all stock merger with fusion firm TAE values the group above 6 billion dollars and supports energy heavy AI infrastructure.
[ETF plan]: A Truth Social branded ETF would track BTC and ETH with Crypto dot com as partner and Yorkville America Digital as sponsor.
“The goal is a broader digital asset presence, from holding BTC to offering ETF exposure,” the company signaled through recent plans.
